Michelle Worton tells the Allison Inquiry that seven months after her second COVID vaccination she was found to have a brain cyst she says was causing brain compression. She describes being diagnosed with multiple neurological and autoimmune conditions, roughly eight white matter brain lesions, and cystic masses in her liver, pancreas, cervix, breasts, and brain. Unable to obtain surgery in Canada, she says she sold her dental practice, liquidated her assets, drained her savings, and used crowdfunding to pay for a private brain surgery in the United States — $148,000 USD for the operation alone. To date, she says, total medical costs exceed $300,000. She also describes returning to the US in 2024, receiving diagnoses and a treatment plan within 36 hours, and most recently being denied plasmapheresis in Canada. Her account raises questions about access to care for people with complex chronic conditions.
