Jamie R Daniel, a former paramedic, tells the Allison Inquiry that after what she describes as a severe and disabling health event in summer 2022, she walked with a cane for months and lost faith in colleagues, the medical system, and eventually the government. She says the VISP program sent her a letter without her name on it, that, she says, acknowledged a link to her vaccine but disputed her neurologist’s diagnosis of transverse myelitis and found her injury neither severe nor permanent. Her appeal in March 2023 remains unresolved. Without coordinated medical documentation, she lost her long-term disability coverage and went two years without income. She now receives $1,600 a month in CPP disability. Her ask to the inquiry: transparency and checks and balances for people in similar situations.
