Drew Taylor describes what daily life with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) looks like for her. She says sitting up or standing requires effort, that she must wear medical-grade compression garments, and that she needs between 10,000 and 14,000 milligrams of sodium per day to avoid fainting without medication. She says even a trip to the grocery store is not possible — lights, people, and standing in line all affect her. She describes the sensation as feeling "almost drunk." Gastrointestinal issues are also part of her daily reality, with a feeding tube having been mentioned by her doctor. Her care plan, she says, must be followed every single day without exception.
