Crystal Luchkiw testifies at the Allison Inquiry about a man named Scott who collapsed while his children were in the car. She says he was revived, then brought to the Ottawa Heart Institute, where doctors found severe myocarditis with a heart function of only 10%. He spent seven days in the cardiac ICU and had a defibrillator and pacemaker inserted. According to Luchkiw, Scott left the hospital with many new medications, gradually rebuilt his ability to do daily tasks, and tried to return to a job he loved — but, she says, he never fully regained normal capacity.
